Indexable Reamers — The reamer body is a precision-engineered capital component. The indexable cutting inserts or cartridges are the perishable detail — replaced on a production cycle to your exact specification. The reamer body stays in service for years with proper maintenance and timely insert changes. JPT repairs and rebuilds indexable reamer bodies for all brands.
Brazed Carbide Reamers — Brazed designs bond the carbide cutting edges directly to the tool body. Repairability depends on the specific design and the extent of wear or breakage. Many brazed reamer designs can be reconditioned — contact JPT to evaluate your specific tool before ordering a replacement.

Indexable Reamer Designs and Configurations

Lay-Down Design Indexable Carbide Reamer — JPT’s lay-down insert design positions the carbide insert flat in the reamer body pocket for maximum support and precise diameter control. The endcap design allows for easy insert indexing without removing the tool from the spindle, minimizing downtime and ensuring repeatable bore diameter across high-volume production runs. This design is well-suited for automotive transmission case and engine block bore finishing applications.


Padded Indexable Reamers — JPT padded reamer designs incorporate precision-ground carbide pads alongside the cutting inserts to provide exceptional bore geometry, roundness, and surface finish.
