Liner press fit, sealing performance, and valve guide alignment all depend on bore diameter and finish being held within micron-level tolerances across every part in the production run. Standard boring tools with fixed insert pockets cannot provide the on-machine size correction needed to maintain these tolerances as inserts wear and machine conditions change over a shift.
